I feature wish if I may. I'd very much like to have some sort of mechanism that
automatically keeps track of build number for executables and libraries.
I have no clue about what level this feature would fit best in, but my first
thought was that the compiler should store the build number for each executable
/ library in the file itself. A library function to extract the number from a
specific file would also be nice. My second thought was some shell- and Makefile
hack. Both these are out of my league...
I am not sure how build number is handled in all systems and if it is something
you want to be connected to some version control system? I may have missed
something here - there may be features like this allready? Or is there some easy
hack to do?
I think ocaml is the perfect tool for developing nice share/freeware with so
maybe one would like to have some sort of build tracker? Am I on to something or
am I just full of wierd thoughts here? ;-)
Cheers,
Jens
