Original bug ID: 1214
Reporter: administrator
Status: closed
Resolution: fixed
Priority: normal
Severity: minor
Category: ~DO NOT USE (was: OCaml general)

Bug description

(This is so weird I must be doing something wrong, but
I just can't see what the explanation is.)

I downloaded the version 3.04 native Win32 port.
After installing on windows 2000, I opened the Objective Caml icon,
and saw a window which I take to be the "simple toplevel gui".
Testing it, I used the file menu to open a file.
Here is the message I received:

#use "C:\Objective Caml\lib\nativeint.ml";;

Cannot find file C:\Objective Caml\lib
ativeint.ml.

Apparently the gui interprets "\n" in the name of a file
as a newline. Further experimentation shows that it
appears to interpret "\t" as a tab.

I looked in the various lists of bugs to see if this problem
was discussed but didn't find it. Sorry if I'm repeating
something already reported.

Cheers,
John

Right. This is a known issue with the GUI: it should either use
forward slashes / or escaped backslashes \ in the argument of #use.
The fix will be in the forthcoming release 3.05 of OCaml.
