Summary0001597: [MAILER-DAEMON@pauillac.inria.fr: Returned mail: unknown mailer error 1]
DescriptionFolks,

I wrote to Pierre.Weis@inria.fr, as mentioned at the top of
http://caml.inria.fr/FAQ/FAQ_DEBUTANT-eng.html [^] but the message bounced.
Can anyone have a look at this? Thanks!

Regards,

    Jens

Subject: bug during configuration of ocaml

Cher Pierre,

I'm trying to compile the lang/ocaml port on FreeBSD 4.8-RC. The
configure script apparently runs a program to test wether stack overflow
can be detected.

Snippet from configure:
...
    # Determine if system stack overflows can be detected

    if test a = a; then
    set -x
    case "$arch,$model,$system" in
      i386,*,*)
        case "$host" in # Check for FreeBSD 4.5 bug
          *-*-freebsd*|*-*-openbsd*) check_pthread=yes ;;
          *) check_pthread=no ;;
        esac
        if ./runtest -DTARGET_$arch -DSYS_$system stackov.c \
        && test $check_pthread = no || cclibs="-pthread $cclibs" \
               ./runtest -DTARGET_$arch -DSYS_$system stackov.c; then
          echo "System stack overflow can be detected."
          echo "#define HAS_STACK_OVERFLOW_DETECTION" >> s.h
        else
          echo "Cannot detect system stack overflow."
        fi;;
      *)
          echo "Cannot detect system stack overflow.";;
    esac

The "tst" program run by ./runtest hangs indefinitely and eats all
available CPU. It can not be killed with TERM, HUP, INT or QUIT, but
only with kill -KILL.

I have traced the problem down to

 # cd /usr/ports/lang/ocaml/work/ocaml-3.06/config/auto-aux
 # cclibs=-pthread ./runtest -DTARGET_i386 -DSYS_bsd_elf stackov.c

The program runs fine without cclibs=-pthread
Could you have a look at this? Merci!

Regards,

    Jens
