says that occurrences of `tag-name have to be followed by a pattern.
This is not the case for the above expression. The above expression
is obviously good, so the problem is with the document. I think the
production for pattern should have this added:
pattern ::= ...
| `tag-name

The following is accepted by the ocaml toplevel:

says that occurrences of `tag-name have to be followed by a pattern.
This is not the case for the above expression. The above expression
