The 16KB scratchpad is very fast.  You could burst the minor heap into the SPR, do the minor collection, then burst it out.  Or make the SPR the default location for the minor heap, bursting it out and in around the rendering component (which probably wants to use SPR to manage VU0/main memory transfers).

Anyone have any experience along these lines?
