You're on the right tracks.  The following seems to work:

        make world opt
        (cd stdlib; ln -s ../asmrun/libasmrunp.a . )
        make CAMLOPT="boot/ocamlrun ./ocamlopt -nostdlib -I stdlib -p" \
          ocamlc.opt ocamlopt.opt
