If GUI research with OCaml in mind, then DST may be your kettle of fish =) You get to start afresh, with nothing standing in your way for design. Experimentation will be key. We'll be needing a new GUI toolkit soon, once we have our new kernel design built. Of course, you have the problems of no existing drawing primitives (yet), or font support (yet). One possible limitation: we may decide to use G'Caml, which I don't believe has been ported to the 3.x series yet (think type-safe ocaml IPC). For those interested, please email me privately.
