Ideally, the API documentation for plugins should be more complete (basically serve as a reference how to write a plugin) and cross-referenced. http://nicolaspouillard.fr/ocamlbuild/html/Signatures.PLUGIN.html
Attached is a patch that does a small step in that direction.
