Original bug ID: 6705
Reporter: @whitequark
Assigned to: @lpw25
Status: closed (set by @xavierleroy on 2016-12-07T10:37:07Z)
Resolution: duplicate
Priority: normal
Severity: feature
Category: ~DO NOT USE (was: OCaml general)
Duplicate of: #5849
Monitored by: @diml

Bug description

Lack of hygiene hurts OCaml syntax extensions considerably. See for example: mirage/ocaml-cow#41. (This has came up with ppx_deriving too, but I can't find the link.)

It would be great if OCaml provided a special root module that would resist any local shadowing.
