The column is the right one, but the line is wrong. Example:

File "/home/gabriel/source/ocaml/typing/typedtree.mli", line 0, character 2:
{ l1=P1; ...; ln=Pn } (flag = Closed)

Junsong Li started working on this problem (in fact another problem that seems to have the same root cause, see related bugs), and this seems more difficult to fix than it initially appears due to architectural issues in the location handling. See this very detailed comment on the problem and possible directions forward.
